Experts for Digital Product Passport (DPP), Battery Passport & Digital Nameplate

In an industry that is constantly changing, it is surprising how little the construction industry has made use of modern possibilities so far. That's why it's high time to take the leap into the digital age - and preferably yesterday!

Description of the image

QIKY GmbH is your partner for digital product data and regulatory compliance in Europe. We support companies introducing the Digital Product Passport (DPP), the EU Battery Passport and digital nameplates that comply with EU and international standards.

With our technology and consulting, we help manufacturers make their products transparent, standards-compliant and future-proof – from industry, electronics and mechanical engineering to the battery sector. We connect product data, sustainability requirements and regulations so that companies can meet upcoming EU requirements efficiently.

Description

New EU Machinery Regulation Digital operating manuals & product passports (DPP)

The new EU Machinery Regulation (EU 2023/1230) entered into force on 19 July 2023 and will replace the 2006 Machinery Directive by 2027. It allows operating manuals and machine information to be provided digitally – closely aligned with the Digital Product Passport (DPP) and digital nameplates.

With QIKY, companies manage digital manuals centrally, download or print them, and document machine data, inspections and maintenance without gaps. This helps manufacturers and operators comply with the new regulation while preparing for future DPP and EU compliance requirements.

Deadlines & Milestones

EU Battery Regulation

August 17, 2023 – Regulation published / came into force. August 18, 2024 – CE marking mandatory for certain batteries. August 18, 2025 – originally many requirements (e.g., old due diligence), but was postponed. February 18, 2027 – Digital Battery Passport mandatory for certain batteries. August 18, 2027 – postponed due diligence obligation for battery supply chains.

Ecodesign / DPP

The DPP is being introduced gradually, depending on the product category. GS1 points out that certain DPP categories are already mandatory from 2027. Implementation acts (delegated legal acts) are being developed by the EU Commission, including for specific product groups such as batteries, textiles, construction products, etc.

Interoperability & Technical Rules

The technical design of the battery passport (e.g., data structure, rights, access) is determined by technical implementing acts. Access: Different stakeholders (public, authorities, recycling industry) have different access rights to passport data depending on "legitimate interest".
